Me: I hate that I've become so picky about bananas. They've got to be at the exact stage of ripeness and not beyond or I won't eat them.
S.O.: I know what you mean, I'm the same way.
Me: You watch them like a hawk: too green, too green, too green, not quite yet, a little more-- and then you take ONE bathroom break and suddenly, oh, f**k, I missed the window!
S.O.: Took yer eyes off 'em just long enough to inhale. And it's all over.
Me: Yeah, sometimes you hit them in that twelve-hour time span when they're edible. And just one day beyond that...
S.O.: ...it's time to call in John Constantine.
In other news, I watched the first episode of Ouran High School Host Club twice tonight, once in Japanese with subtitles and one with English, and, damn, I have to say, that's a great English dub. Think I'm gonna go with it. |

I read the banana conversation out loud to my husband and we both firmly agree! I always say bananas have a window of about two hours when they are good but sadly sometimes that happens overnight or while you are away. Although, remarkably, it does seem some bananas actually go from unripe to rotten without ever being perfect. ;)
It's why I can only buy one or two bananas at a time--the rest will be rotting by the time I eat one or two in a near-perfect stage.
*snicker* A friend of mine is convinced that bananas are the source of all evil. Personally - I'm not that picky. I eat them half green or half brown and know lots of little recipes to use them in when they are a bit overripe, too.
Oh, and hello! It's the nag of the year commenting again. *g* There's a lovely little member tag created for you all waiting to be used. *g*

I keep looking and I DON'T SEE.
But, but...it's there! Right between "member: akk" and "member: annotated_em". It's definitely there. I have the comm set to display all tags, too.
Okay, we must have things set differently, because it's just not on the list for me. I will stop fretting and just trust you that it's there and will show up when I load up things!
Maybe that's it. I have it set under Customize Journal Style/Modules "Limit display to these popular tags. '0' for unlimited".
The default is "50", if I remember correctly, so if you're watching in your style mabe it doesn't show up.
But it's there, definitely, and you'll be able to select it when posting.
Oh, I can't resist. From emungere's " Obvious":
In the locker room, Rafa lay down on a bench, feet on the floor, banana clasped to his chest. He meant to sit up and eat it, but it seemed like more trouble than it was worth.
Roger's face loomed into view. "Hello, there."
"Ohh. Hey. Hi! You're here."
"I am." The corner of Roger's mouth curled up, and he he straddled the bench to sit with his knees about half an inch from Rafa's. "Aren't you going to eat that?"
"Oh. Yeah." Rafa sat up. It put him very close to Roger, who was leaning forward, hands clasped between his legs. Rafa peeled down his banana, took a bite, and made a face. "I like them more ripe, you know? With spots. But then they get all mushed in the bag. Uh." He glanced at Roger. That was surely the stupidest thing he'd ever said to him.
But Roger was smiling. "Yeah. Me too. It is a problem."
Rafa grinned at him around a mouth full of banana.
